PROCESS & APPLICATION

A tool brief built around the resin and part.

Before tooling is released, the part should be reviewed for draft, wall thickness, likely gate location, parting line, ejection, and critical dimensions. We coordinate those questions with the expected production stage so the tool brief is specific rather than generic.

  • Functional plastic enclosures
  • Industrial clips and fittings
  • Pilot or repeat molded components
Discuss Your Requirements

PART PLANNING

Resolve gate, draft and fit requirements.

Gate and cosmetic faces

Identify cosmetic faces and gate restrictions.

Draft & wall consistency

Provide draft and consistent walls where the design allows.

Critical fits & tool volume

Confirm fit-critical features and expected production volume.

MATERIALS, FINISH & ACCEPTANCE

Align resin, tool finish and approval criteria.

Resin choice and expected order size influence the tool concept. Share the operating environment and preferred polymer if known.

  • Tool surface finish influences molded texture and visible appearance. Agree on cosmetic criteria before tooling begins.
  • First-off samples can be reviewed against agreed fit, dimensions, and appearance requirements before repeat production.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

Before you send the drawing

What is needed for a tooling review?

A current part model, resin preference, quantity estimate, cosmetic surfaces, and key fit requirements.

Can the part change before tool release?

Yes. Early review is the right time to settle draft, wall thickness, and parting line questions.

Does tooling include molded parts?

Tooling and molding are related but should be scoped together in the quotation.
